Guardian Airwaves is revolutionizing education and professional training with adaptive AI technology, focusing on students with ADHD, NDDs, and adults in public safety sectors. Our Mission

Guardian Airwaves began with a simple, urgent question: how do you help a person perform at their best in the moment they need it most — when the pressure is highest, the stakes are real, and there’s no time to stop and read a manual?

We first asked that question of firefighters. We now ask it of students.

In 2017, working alongside retired CAL FIRE Division Chief Herb Love, we built five Mixed Immersive Reality Simulation Training (MIRST) prototypes to help first responders train for the split second decisions that save lives. Over three years, 43 firefighters, paramedics, and volunteers put our early technology to the test — work that earned national recognition through NIST’s Public Safety Communications Research program. Then we watched the same pattern play out much closer to home, as our own children navigated ADHD and learning differences in classrooms that weren’t built to see them clearly. The gaps were different, but the need was the same: real time support that meets a person exactly where they are.

That realization is what led us to build two learning platforms instead of one — and to discover they were never really separate. Both are powered by the same underlying method: Intelligent Augmentation (IA).

• Primary focus: 5th–12th grade students with ADHD, neurodevelopmental differences (NDDs), and Autistic characteristics.
• Secondary focus: Adults with learning differences pursuing higher education and certification in public safety and first responder fields — future firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, EMRs, and nurses.

Accessibilty

Guardian Airwaves treats accessibility as a foundational design principle rather than an afterthought, ensuring the platform is usable by every learner regardless of ability. The company backs this commitment with formal documentation, including VPATs (Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates) and ACRs (Accessibility Conformance Reports), which give schools and districts a clear, standardized way to evaluate how well the product meets accessibility requirements before adoption. These documents demonstrate alignment with WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance expectations, the industry benchmark for making digital content perceivable, operable, and understandable for users with diverse needs. By maintaining this level of transparency, Guardian Airwaves shows evidence-based readiness, meaning claims about accessibility aren’t just promises but are supported by verifiable testing and reporting. The platform also incorporates password protection to safeguard student data and account security, reinforcing that accessibility and privacy go hand in hand when serving neurodivergent learners and their families.

IRB – Internal Review Board

Guardian Airwaves maintains an Internal Review Board (IRB) to ensure that all research involving students and educators on our platform is conducted ethically, with participant rights, safety, and privacy protected at every stage. Our IRB independently evaluates research proposals before they begin and continues periodic review throughout each study to confirm ongoing compliance with ethical standards and applicable regulations. Consistent with best practices across the field, we intentionally build a diverse board, drawing on varied professional backgrounds, including educators, clinicians, ethicists, and community representatives, so that research is assessed from multiple scientific, ethical, and participant-centered perspectives.

We welcome qualified professionals from relevant fields, such as education, child psychology, data ethics, and neurodiversity research, who are interested in contributing to our review process. Just as IRBs commonly include at least one member unaffiliated with the sponsoring institution to guard against bias, Guardian Airwaves is open to bringing in outside experts who can offer independent, informed perspectives on our research design and participant protections. Professionals interested in joining our IRB or collaborating on evidence-based studies related to ADHD support and EdTech innovation are encouraged to reach out, helping us maintain the rigorous, transparent standards our learners and their families deserve.

How We Got Started

In 2017, foreseeing a rise in natural disasters and unpredictable threats to communities, Guardian Airwaves’ founder Lisa Revelli set out to better prepare public safety professionals and first responders. Partnering with retired CalFire Chief Herb Love, she developed Mixed Immersive Reality Simulation Training (MIRST) modules designed to deliver real-time, hands-on training for critical response scenarios. In 2018, Guardian Airwaves received a PSCR award for a VR HUD Navigational Display. Guardian Airwaves was invited by NSF to pitch EMRT – primary response assessment training. When COVID-19 disrupted funding, the VR prototypes became dormant.

In 2024, Guardian Airwaves (GA) returned to its EdTech roots with a new mission: building adaptive learning platforms for neurodiverse students. The inspiration came close to home—GA’s founder, Lisa Revelli watched her own kids struggle in the public school system, without the resources to afford private tutors, Lisa was driven to create a solution. That vision became GA-In The Zone, an AI-powered adaptive platform that re-engages students during moments of inattention, strengthens working memory, and provides real-time emotional support
